Diabetes to be added in Clinically Extreme Vulnerable "Shielding" list for COVID 19

The Issue

On 14 May 2020, it was revealed that one in four people (26%) who have died in hospital in England following a diagnosis of coronavirus also had diabetes.

Today 20 May 2020, NHS England has provided new data approximately 32% of the 24,739 Covid-19 deaths recorded in English hospitals up to May 17.

Almost a third of people (33%) who have died after testing positive for coronavirus in English hospitals had diabetes.

The government needs to review all of the emerging evidence and data about the risks to people with diabetes. Plan to shield vulnerable diabetes patient especially with multiple-comorbidities (i.e hypertension, sleep apnea, asthma, heart disease) immediately to prevent further death toll.
