Honours for pandemic heroes

Honours for pandemic heroes
The Issue
This petition proposes that exceptionally, the only people who should be honoured in this extraordinarily difficult year are the front line workers and volunteers who have kept us safe, often at the very greatest personal risk and sometimes at the very greatest personal cost.
Please join me in asking the Prime Minister to ensure that all 2021 honours go to the heroes of the pandemic, the front line workers who have kept the country going and kept us safe. NHS staff, care home workers, the emergency services, teachers, shop workers, local authority and public transport employees and volunteers should be the only people honoured in 2021. By honours I mean the knighthoods and dames, the CBEs, OBEs, MBEs and BEMs. Some honours would be awarded posthumously since tragically, a number of these heroic people will not have survived. Everyone on the Covid Honours List would go to Buckingham Palace to receive their award.
No chief executives, senior civil servants or senior managers, who will already be rewarded through their pay packets, will receive honours. That is not to diminish the efforts of those who may have worked hard but it is simply the people who have risked their lives for us on a daily basis, often on low salaries, who most deserve our country's thanks. This is one way to show our gratitude.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson can do this. It is within his Government's power to make this change. Please support my petition to persuade him that this is the right thing to do.
