Helium Balloons released into the sky to mark special occasions are creating pain and death all over the world, Wildlife are hugely affected by these, every time a helium Balloon is released as a celebration you are putting wildlife at serious risk of a slow excruciating death. Cows and Horses amongst other animals are naturally drawn to bright things and can ingest these. All released balloons, including those falsely marketed as “biodegradable latex,” return to Earth as ugly litter. They kill countless animals and cause dangerous power outages. Balloons are also a waste of Helium, a finite resource. Balloons can travel thousands of miles and pollute the most remote and pristine places. The strings and ribbons that are tied to balloons are also a threat and can cause animals, especially birds, to get tangled up in them. The impact that balloons can have on animals can be fatal. Counter-arguments suggest the use of biodegradable balloons and lanterns are a safe alternative, however, this waste is still a risk to animals and can take decades to degrade. Please support this cause and rid the UK of this kind of litter..there are lots of other ways to celebrate Special Occasions without trashing the planet..lets do those ways instead please!
