After a ban on wedding ceremonies earlier in the year many couples have been forced to rearrange for a new date, some of which will be planned for November and December this year.

Churches, registry offices and other wedding venues have already been made ‘covid secure’, numbers have been reduced to 15 people and receptions have been banned; yet with all this in place the new restrictions announced today mean than these wedding ceremonies will have to be cancelled again causing more heartbreak, financial loss, stress and once again putting peoples lives on hold.

Many couples see marriage as a massively important day in their lives and made a choice to forego a reception, have fathers not walk them down the aisle, get married in an empty church without extended family and friends, wear masks for photos and compromise in almost all ways possible, as the thing that is most important to them is that they can be married to each other. But once again this right has been taken away. 

I request that Marriages should be allowed to take place during the new lockdown measures in a covid secure manner and limits on guests.
