The Annual Battle of Secessionville Reenactment was cancelled due to political pressure. While it is important to be sensitive to the memories of those who were lost in the Charleston shooting, and while it is important to combat racism (which this group absolutely disavows and abhors), it is important to educate the public on history (both North and South, slave and free). That's what this petition is all about, to save the much beloved reenactment that helped to bring our history to life. You can't erase history lest you repeat the mistakes of the past.
