We, the undersigned residents of Boone County, petition the Boone County Board voicing our opposition to the proposed ground mounted development and installation of a large industrial solar power plant.

The proposed industrial development is enormous, occupying 200-300 acres of valuable prime farm land.  The proposed site will be located on the east side of Genoa Road between Huber Road and Reeds Crossing Road.  There will be a large number of homeowners in and around Boone County that will be adversely affected by this and other solar projects within the county.

The project proposes 6-8 foot high solar arrays, access roads, up to six (6) or more concrete pads for multiple Inverter Power Stations, all surrounded by a seven (7) foot high chain link fence.

This industrial development will have a negative and lasting impact on wildlife, safety, environment, economy, loss of farm land, property values, and the community’s rural character.

For all these reasons listed, we strongly and vigorously oppose the construction of an industrial scale solar power plant at this location or any location that is taking away precious Boone County agricultural land and changing the rural character.
