Reminder to get your letters in to the Planning and Zoning Commission concerning the Skinner proposal where the applicants seek to DOUBLE the allowed density.
File number: ZC0028-21

Send letter to Planning@bonnercounty.id
Be sure to include “File number: ZC0028-21” in the subject line.

The Planning and Zoning Commissioner’s hearing will be a week from next Thursday at 5:30 at the Bonner County building. Get your letters in before the 11th (Veterans Day) today so they will be accounted for in the staff report. If you cannot attend in person please consider at least attending on Zoom. I will post up the link that day.

The Planning and Zoning Commissioners need to hear from you about how it will affect the Selle Valley. If you are of the mind that we can’t make a difference…imagine the county getting a thousand letters, or even a hundred. It’s true that they tend to ignore us, but it’s because not enough of us speak out.

Remember there are more of us than them, we just have to get off our butts and write letters and attend meetings.

Some points to consider:

Per Title 12 of the Bonner County Code:
12-211: GENERAL:
A request for amendment to the text of this title, the comprehensive plan or to the zoning map must be accompanied by a written request that addresses:
A. Why the amendment is necessary.
B. The conformity of the proposal to the comprehensive plan.
C. The effect of the proposal on adjacent property.
D. Any other information considered by the Planning Director or Governing Body to be necessary for a complete evaluation of the proposal, such as information regarding utilities, traffic, service connections, natural resources, unique features of the land or off site features affecting the proposal.

Item A is completely ignored by the Planning Department and by the Commissioners but it shouldn’t be. There is no reason that makes it necessary to double the density. And the effect on Selle Valley will be tremendous:
Northside school, traffic, Pack River impacts, wildlife, loss of farm land, wetland impacts, water supply, soils for septic. Basically, pick your issue or speak to them all.See less
