Re: Taiwansley Jackson, 23SL-CR01252

Dear Honorable Judge: Lasater;

I’m writing to you for mercy on behalf of Taiwansley, who is being charged of the following crimes Assault 1st Degree Or Attempt - Serious Physical Injury Or Special Victim, Armed Criminal Action , Felony Unclassified, Unlawful Possession Of A Firearm on February 21, 2023 .

He is scheduled for arraignment before you. I am asking that you consider a bond reduction upon his release from the hospital.

I appreciate your impartiality during this time, and I believe he is fairly charged of the above listed crimes. I am in no way making light of the crimes alleged above but would like to point out that, even though he did commit the crimes, it was an extremely unusual behavior for him because he is not a violent guy. This act was not done with malice nor his intent. His life conditions at the time were extremely stressful, prompting him to act out of fear and momentary insanity due to grief

Taiwansley has been going through trauma after trauma since his release 7 years ago. Although he has been gainfully employed through temp agencies and odd jobs for family members. In the last 1 ½ months he has experienced 6 fatal tragedies of close family members a suicide, heart attack,3 murders and an attempted murder all of family members his age or younger.

He resides with and helps support his mother and a younger nephew. He is extremely supportive to his family and serves as a major support system to a lot of the young men in the family and our elders by helping in areas where help would be limited due to cost, he steps in free of charge.

Tai as he is affectionately called by family and friends has made tremendous changes in life since his past incarcerations and has a support system. This I feel sure was an isolated incident brought on by PTSD and fear. Due to, the injuries suffered after being struck by the police cruiser he is hospitalized and had surgery, therefore posing no threat to society.

It is my hope that a bond reduction would allow him to be released and cared for at home by family versus the state paying for his incarcerated care.

Thank you for reading our letter.

Respectfully,

His Family
