Virginia Beach city council vote to not enforce the beach closure

Virginia Beach city council vote to not enforce the beach closure
The Issue
Governor Northam has ignored the request of our cities mayor, Bobby Dyer to open the beaches of Virginia Beach for recreational activity with precautionary measures in place to ensure that beach goers remain safe. Our beaches are the lifeblood of our tourism economy and this closure will cause immense suffering to our city for years to come. Thousands of our friends and families will be out of work and driven into debt. Hundreds of small businesses may never be able to open their doors again. As we enter into phase 1 of the reopening strategy there is no logical reason why a family cannot safely enjoy the day at the beach. We are asking that city council direct the Virginia Beach Police Department to not enforce the Governors illegal Beach closure. We demand that you stand up against our governor and lead us back to being a safe and open city.
