Stop the sale of 'Golliwogs' on the Isle of Wight.

Stop the sale of 'Golliwogs' on the Isle of Wight.
The Issue
This petition aims to stop the sale of 'Golliwogs' on the Isle of Wight.
Throughout history, 'Golliwogs' have been used as a racist and stereotypical representation of black people which is extremely harmful and derogatory to communities.
Stemming directly from 'Minstrels' (white people in blackface with overexaggerated lips and wild afro hair presented only as comical 'dunce' like characters) 'Golliwogs' are the constant reminder that Britain has not completely accepted its past, but also that racist ideals and iconography still have a place in our society.
It's well time that this issue is confronted, and the sale of these abhorrent dolls is removed from the Island. we are now in the twenty-first century, it's time to question these old-fashioned, offensive ideals.
I will take this petition to Island MP Bob Seely, with the hope to stop the sale of 'Golliwogs' or at least question their place in our Island shops.
