My son aged 7 has various medical conditions such as a stroke aged 2, which has left him with extensive damage to his left hemisphere. This has left him with medication resilient epilepsy which requires a drastic surgery called a Hemispherectomy.
Kyan has experienced multiple occasions of disability discrimination at his school. He has received several fixed term exclusions as a result of his behaviour linked to his condition. Often the exclusion communicated over the telephone with No official paperwork provided. With Repeatedly resorting to exclusion, they are not addressing the underlying problem.
Kyan has also been excluded from taking part in opportunities within school such as after school dance class, carnival, sports day and a school trip due to insufficient staffing.
The school are not fulfilling their section of the Children and Families Act 2014.
My son has also received direct negative comments on his school report from the headteacher, discregarding his medical condition.
