Against Height Variance Rezoning 1809 6th Ave N

The Issue

The developers that own 1809 6th Ave N in Salemtown, Nashville, TN have filed a height variance rezoning request to build the 2 single family homes on the land 5' taller than currently allowed under Metro codes.

This additional 5' will house a bonus room on the rooftop deck.  While rooftop decks are common in the community, the height ordinance was passed because 3-story tall houses do not fit in with the look and feel of the neighborhood.  They stick out aesthetically, block existing home owners views and invade privacy.

The approval of the rezoning request should be denied as adding a bonus room does not add value to the neighborhood and takes away from the overall look and feel of the street.  It will also look out of place as the 7 new houses currently planned on the street at 1816 and 1818 6th Ave N will all follow the current height zoning guidelines.
