The county is logging the North Shore of Lake Siskiyou. They are removing very large heritage trees that will greatly impact what most of us think of as a Nature Trail. It is more of a logging operation than fire protection. We are not saying don't thin for fire!

But we need to ask the county to not sacrifice our old-growth trees on this small tract on the North Shore trail. There has been concerned and relevant commentary voiced from a broad coalition of people including archeologists, foresters, recreational designers, cultural resource experts, and concerned citizens. We insist on a pause in cutting and an onsite review now. So far this broad coalition of community voices is being ignored.

These large trees shouldn't be logged for profit they should be saved for generations to come. North Shore should be made a park, not a timber stand for sale.
