The Class of 2020 is deeply saddened and not to mention disappointed by the Des Moines public schools decision to cancel the traditional Commencement ceremony and to hold a virtual one due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. 

We as parents and the Senior Class of 2020 understand that these are troubling and scary times, but also have waited and worked hard to achieve this goal and should be allowed to celebrate this milestone. The Class of 2020 have already lost So Much. Missing out on memories with friends and activities such as Senior trips, Prom, sports activities etc. 

We are asking that the Des Moines public school Board reconsiders to change the Graduation Ceremony to a more traditional one instead of virtual.  Even if the rules have to be a little stricter and we have to post pone it out to a further date. 

We could have there be a limit of attendance, such as only parents and/or guardians. Also can go on a schedule alphabetically and certain times. To minimize risk and ease minds. Each high school could hold it at thier football field.
