Allow out of state CEU credit
Allow out of state CEU credit
The Issue
Current South Carolina board of Cosmetology CEU credits are only obtained within the state of SC. Neighboring states that require CEU hours allow credits to be obtained out of state as do other professions within the state of South Carolina.
The current CEU courses are mandatory by state to maintain a Cosmetology licenses yet the courses that are offered are rudimentary and offer very little in ways of continuing education.
Some cosmetologists try to further their own skill set by taking classes on cutting, styling, and color outside with other companies or academies at great cost While being understood that this is ones own choice, I am drawing this petition to change the state board policy to allow for these classes to count towards CEU requirements.
The rule requiring it to be in state is outdated, and only forces us to spend money and time taking classes that provide little in return other than just funding for state board.
