Stop euthanizing well animals and those animals that have treatable and curable illnesses.

Stop euthanizing well animals and those animals that have treatable and curable illnesses.
The Issue
This is simple - The Humane Society should not be euthanizing animals to save money.
Here are the statistics for the Humane Society of Vero Beach:
In the last 10 years (actually 9 1/2 ):
Total Animal Euthanized: 33,378
Net Total After 3,967 Deducted for Owner Requested Euthanasia: 29,411
This is a net euthanasia rate of 50.2% of all animals that came in during the last 9 1/2 years. HALF of all animals died that came into HSVB's "Open Door, Open Heart."
Of the 29,411 animals euthanized, 21,397 were cats/kittens. That's 72.8% of animals euthanized. That's a whole lot of cats and kittens!!! Close your eyes and imagine how big a pile it would be if 21,397 cats and kittens' frozen dead bodies were stacked up.
Indian River County Florida Taxpayers spent $3,572,952.50 in payments to the Humane Society during this 9 1/2 year period.
