One of the most iconic sights in the Bismarck-Mandan community, the current railroad bridge, is set to be replaced in the coming years. The bridge has been declared structurally sound, and while a new bridge should be constructed for rail traffic, the current bridge should be converted into a pedestrian and bike bridge, with opportunities to create a shared green space and park between the communities of Bismarck and Mandan.
As a beautiful part of the Bismarck-Mandan community, this historic bridge should be available for future generations to love and cherish. Instead of demolishing the bridge, built in 1882, the communities of Bismarck and Mandan ask BNSF Railrway to save the bridge to be transformed into a unique community space for families to enjoy for many more decades to come.
