Having lived in Lockport, IL for many years, I have witnessed the evolution of our beautiful town into a hub of automotive services. While growth is certainly positive, it is crucial that we make informed decisions that support the diverse needs of our community. The proposal to develop a 6th car wash (Mister Car Wash) in Lockport is not in alignment with the best interests of our town.

Currently, within a 1.5-mile radius, we already have four car washes, not to mention other auto-related businesses that saturate the local market. This over-concentration not only limits our options but also impacts the potential for more varied and community-friendly developments. Imagine what a new restaurant could do for our social scene, or how a local shop could boost both our economy and community bonds.

We need to prioritize developments that enrich our community, cater to diverse interests, and provide more than just a quick service as we pass through. Our town deserves businesses that reflect its character and meet the evolving needs of its residents. Rather than another car wash, a dining establishment or other community-centered business could be more beneficial, providing a gathering place and contributing to the local culture of Lockport.
