A year ago, in Bahir Dar city, Ethiopia, a 7-year-old girl was subjected to unthinkable brutality before losing her life. After millions protested for justice, Mota Keranio, a TikToker and YouTuber, made a horrifying decision: he publicly praised the murderer and suggested that the child's mother deserved to be raped and killed. This is deeply personal for me, as an adult who was once a child and now could be a parent. Our children cannot protect themselves and should not have to fear such unimaginable horrors.

This exacerbates the global concern around child sexual exploitation and violence. According to UNICEF, worldwide, around 120 million girls under the age of 20 (about 1 in 10) have been subjected to forced sexual intercourse or other forced sexual acts at some point in their lives.

We, as the family of that little angel, Heven, implore the American government to take prompt action and blick Mota Keranio' tik tok and youtube. By doing so, we can send a clear message that those who support such heinous acts do not have a place in a society that values law, order, and common decency.
