As Immigration and Customs Enforcement expands its detention infrastructure throughout Georgia, we have seen alarming disregard for local governments and their communities, specifically in Social Circle and Oakwood, GA.

To protect their respective jurisdictions from ICE imposition, Hall County, Mableton, and South Fulton have taken preventative measures in the form of moratoriums on ICE facilities. We believe that East Point should join them.

We, the undersigned residents, urge East Point lawmakers to introduce legislation imposing a moratorium on the acquisition, renovation, expansion, and operation of warehouses or other facilities within the City of East Point for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities.
