The Issue

For the past 38 years, I have devotedly operated aircraft as part of an Aircharter Business at Danbury Municipal Airport. This airport is more than a workplace; it is a central hub for regional air travel, bustling with activity and defining much of the community's connectivity. However, a new threat is emerging that could jeopardize the safety of all involved, from pilots to passengers, and particularly to the occupants of a proposed new building.

There are plans underway to erect a hospital directly in line with the approach and departure paths at Danbury Municipal Airport. Although this construction does not infringe on the designated aviation airspace deemed by the FAA and may not officially be classified as an aviation hazard, it undoubtedly presents an unnecessary risk. Hospitals are crucial to any city’s infrastructure, but building one so close to a busy airport introduces a safety risk that cannot be ignored.

The hospital's presence at this location could lead to unpredictable incidents given its proximity to constantly navigating aircraft, which frequently experience takeoffs and landings in close succession. The potential for miscalculations or unforeseen technical issues with aircraft increases the risk of severe accidents, posing a significant threat to the lives of those within the hospital buildings.

We urge city planners and decision-makers to reassess the proposed site for the hospital. By selecting an alternative location for this crucial infrastructure, we aim to keep both the future patients safe and preserve the airport's operational efficiency. The health and safety of our community and its infrastructure must be balanced thoughtfully to ensure the greatest protection for all.

This is not merely about complying with aviation safety measures; it's about avoiding preventable risks. Join me in urging the responsible authorities to find a more suitable location that doesn’t compromise safety. Sign this petition to protect our skies, our healthcare community, and our shared future.
