Alright folks, this is it. The petition has been sent towards the band. Here’s what’s left to say by now and / or the questions you still might have.

When did you send the petition and where?

On Saturday 18th in January at noon I handed the package over to DHL. While you read this, there’s a good chance it arrived at it’s destination in Grefrath.

What did the package include?

The letter (1 page), the then-complete list of signatures (19 pages) and a custom made 12“-gatefold-envelope to carry both. Everything went into a blacked out parcel box, filled up with eco-friendly red paper.

Will the band be aware of its arrival?

I should hope so. Since at least André Olbrich is part of the Blind Guardian’s Bards‘ Tavern, he should be aware of the whole process.

Can I see the package / letter somewhere?

Yes, of course. It’s all public available on the petition’s FB: https://www.facebook.com/redeemthepromise/. I blurred out some of the artwork and the final version of the letter to leave some surprises for the band to discover.

If the great plan of luring the band into hosting a new Blind Guardian Open Air doesn’t work out, was this a failure?

Strong no! I consider this a success since day one of its existence. It gave fans all around the globe the opportunity to express their feelings towards this matter. In the course of the weeks and months, countless fans joined the discussion on various platforms and filled it with more life than I could ever imagine. And that’s what I’m greatful about.

Did you do everything you could to challenge the band?

Yes, I’m certain about that. This was, in my humble opinion, as far as a fans can possibly go giving power to their voice. I tried to paint the picture that we, together, can make a new BGOA a true miraculous, grandious experience for band and fans alike. Because when it comes to passion and partying, Blind Guardian fans are able to outperform the fans of any other band of our genre.

What’s going to happen next?

I’d love to know as well, but I don’t. In the past 7 months, there’s always been a next step form me to do, a next milestone to achieve or a routine to follow. All this is over now. The package has been sent, and now we must wait for an answer.

Thank you, I’m forever yours,

Eike
