Today (16/04/2021) I spoke on Frank Mitchell’s programme on U105 to help raise awareness about the burial fees affecting families connected to Blaris Cemetery and to discuss the petition.
I was extremely nervous doing it, but I know this issue affects not only my own family, but many others who may now face these grave opening charges due to the 2015 boundary changes.
One of the questions I raised was:
Why is there not a fair, standardised burial opening fee across all councils in Northern Ireland?
U105 were waiting on a response from the council at the time, so we will see if anything further comes from it.
