AUST ICONIC WEDGE TAIL EAGLES BROLGAS BIRDS BATS ARE IRREPLACABLE THEIR EXTINCTION MUST BE STOPPED

John MooreWangaratta, Australia
Jul 19, 2026

Australia’s bird and bat life, is unique and irreplaceable. It is criminal that they are being treated as expendable on the alter, of Co2 emissions reduction and greed for money. Once they are extinct, it will be impossible to return them to their present day numbers. While Wedge tail eagles and The Western District Brolga (Southern Brolga, or Native Companion) are highly visible, every bird and bat are a very important part Rural Australia’s ecology.

Because of the irreplaceable value of Australia’s birds, it is a second huge reason, why Wind Farms should be stopped and scrapped now

The first reason, Wind Turbines should never be considered, for supplying reliable, baseload electricity to the Grid 24/7. Is because they are actually, sub-standard, inefficient, unreliable, uneconomic, short working life, Wind Energy Converters.

But, as stated previously. Wind turbines, should never be placed across Rural Australia, because recognise it or not, they will slaughter our precious birds, on a 24/7 basis. Not only that, during the construction phase and when operating (with blade noise and flicker effect), birds, attempting to nest will be seriously affected.

And the threat is huge. In 2026, Rural Australia had 127 Wind Farms, assuming that the average of Wind Turbines per farm was 50, that adds up to 6,350 Wind Turbines slicing24/7. If as shown below, if one in three Wind turbines kills a wedge-tail eagle annually that adds up to 2,116 wedge-tail eagles, slaughtered across Rural Australia annually. And it doesn’t end there, that equals 1,058 breeding pairs, that will never breed. If a breeding pair would have been able to say have 8 eaglets over 10 years. Then multiplied by 1,058 pairs lost, it equates to 8,464, potential eaglets slaughtered by Winds.

THIS IS A NATIONAL SCANDAL AND MUST BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.

Two actual examples:

In New South Wales, Tilt Renewables, the owner of the 66-turbine Rye Park wind farm near Yass, is seeking approval to ramp up mitigation measures after its developer revealed the project’s turbines had killed 20 wedge-tailed eagles within a period of just 18 months. (John Moore, The, situation should be seen as more than just killing the 20 wedge-tail eagles. Also killed is their breeding potential, if each pair was to have one or two eaglets, every two years, over ten years they might have eight eaglets. Then the 20 wedge-tails killed, would make 10 mating pairs, with the potential loss over 10 years of 80 Wedge tail eaglets. 66 turbines killing 20 birds, equals 1 in 3 turbines killing a bird. When calculated over the 6,350 Turbines presently in use, that is a potential 2,116 wedge-tail eagle kills across Australia. With a potential eaglet kill of 8,466 birds. https://reneweconomy.com.au/wind-farm-reports-20-wedge-tailed-eagle-deaths-in-18-months-vows-to-ramp-up-mitigation-measures/

In the Western District of Victoria, lives ‘The Western District Brolga’ (Southern Brolga, or Native Companion) is the last genetically pure Brolga Species left in the world. They are the most beautiful of the cranes, quietly living on the savannah plains of the Western Districts of Victoria. Brolgas mate for life. If one Brolga is disturbed, chased away or killed, that pair becomes dysfunctional. The bird remaining will not re-mate and produce young, and the bird displaced will also not re-mate and produce young. If Brolgas don’t breed, the species dies out. Only one of the Brolgas from the pair needs to be frightened away or displaced for that pair to become dysfunctional as a breeding pair. Brolgas avoid wind farms. Brolgas avoid areas with wind farms. The fast spinning blades frighten Brolgas. A significant buffer distance needs to be in place for Brolgas not to be frightened off. The direct consequence of Brolgas avoiding wind farm developments is the loss of breeding habitat. Without suitable breeding home ranges, more pairs fail to breed, and eventually, the genetically pure species will die out.

But, the proposed Meering West Wind, is charging ahead on a submission to build Wind Farms close to Brolga habitat. Other Wind Farms doing likewise, must be stopped. They are uneconomic and environmental vandals.

IF A FARMER OR ANY MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC KILLED 20 WEDGE-TAIL EAGLES OR SOUITHERN BROLGAS, THEY WOULD BE HEAVILY FINED AND EVEN IMPRISONED. WHERE ARE THE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION GROUPS THAT ARE ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN?

Coal continues to provide, over 50% of the electricity to the Grid: OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS THE ONE OPTION THAT MUST BE ADOPTED BY ALL POLITICAL PARTIES.

This includes Eraring NOW 2029, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.

And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

OUR PETITION TO KEEP OUR COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS RUNNING. Is educating everyone of how important coal fired power stations are to keeping the Grid from crashing.

YOUR SUPPORT FOR OUR PETITION WITH DONATIONS WILL BE REPAID WITH BASELOAD ELECTRICITY FOR THE NEXT CRITICAL FIFTEEN TO TWENTY YEARS. Be it $10, $20, $50 or $100 please make a donation and keep our petition in the public eye. AND KEEP THE BLACKOUTS AT BAY. The more signatures we get the more wins will keep coming and the coal fired power stations will be kept running. Promote the petition on Change.org and share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp or Email.

KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.

https://aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/data-nem/data-dashboard-nem

Example: Eastern States 24/06/26 5.55.pm AEST.. Batteries 12%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 38% Brown Coal 13%, Gas 18%, Hydro 16% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 2%.  4.55pm, coming into a peak time when solar is just entering its daily 17 hour, sunshine drought and wind is pottering along (in all States, it is in single figures), with no guarantee that a wind drought, might not be around the corner.

Meanwhile our coal fired generators are the backbone of the Grid. 24/6/26 5.55pm AEST. In NSW coal is producing 65% Solar 0%, Wind 1%, Qld coal 56%, solar 0% wind 4% Vic Brown coal 53%, solar 0%, wind 2%. SA batteries 12%, gas 77%, diesel 3% solar 0%, wind 8% and Tas hydro 94%, wind 2%.

WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.

AND THE PRICES GENERATORS ARE RECEIVING VARIES WIDELY. As shown by these statistics what the generators are receiving for their Grid electricity. 22/6/26 4.55pm AESDST. In Qld the generators are receiving $43MWh.  NSW is being paid $198Mwh. SA is paying $312MWh Vic is paying $188MWh and Tas is paying $112MWh.

THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS, IS BEING DRIVEN, BY THE CLIMATE CHANGE, Co2 REDUCTIONS, CARBON CREDITS, OBSESSION

STOP PRESS: WHAT CAN HAPPEN. South Australia 4th June 2024 9.05pm EST. Batteries 0%, Gas 97%, Diesel 3% Solar 0%, Wind 0%.

SA RENEWABLES CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA WITH BATTERIES, SOLAR AND WIND PRODUCING NO ELECTRICITY, ZERO, NOTHING

In the current fuel crisis our petition is getting traction, we are up to 4,670 signatures, (that’s 4,670 emails go out, every update). Let’s increase it by many more, everyone’s future depends on it. Continue to spread the word, to all family, friends, anyone you meet, particularly discuss it with shop and business owners. Ask the question, “How do you plan to cope when the blackouts come? The possibility is too awful to contemplate.

WE MUST KEEP THOSE COAL FIRED GENERATORS GOING, TO KEEP OUR SOCIETY FROM HAVING BLACKOUTS, POWER RATIONING AND EXHORBITENT ENERGY PRICES
