
It is unbelievable, the delusions that some of the leaders of Australia are under. In that they do not realise that you cannot provide for long term electricity requirements, with short term solutions.
The long term, requirement of an electricity Grid. It is to have a generator, able to supply a reliable and constant supply of base load electricity for every second, of every minute of every 24 hours of every 365 days of the year. (24/7). And it extremely efficient and reduces costs, if the generator has a working life in excess of 50 years.
Genuine generators, are Coal fired power stations, because they have access to coal mines, which can supply a constant supply coal (fuel). Which enable coal fired power stations to generate baseload electricity 24/7. A coal fired power station has a working life expectancy of fifty years and more.
Genuine generators, are Gas fired power stations, because they have access to a gas (fuel) supply 24/7. Which enable gas fired power stations to generate a constant supply of baseload electricity 24/7. A gas fired power station has a working life expectancy of fifty years and more.
Genuine generators, are Hydroelectric power stations, Because they have access to a higher level water supply (fuel) 24/7. (Note). Hydroelectric power stations can have water supply droughts. Normally this enables hydroelectric power stations to generate a constant supply of baseload electricity 24/7. A Hydroelectric power station has a working life expectancy of fifty years and more.
Genuine generators are Nuclear power stations, because they can be loaded with fuel rods. Which then enable them to generate a constant supply of baseload electricity 24/7. A Nuclear power station has a working life expectancy of fifty years and more.
‘Make believe’ electricity generators, are Wind Catchers (Turbines). Because they do not release the energy in the ‘weather fuel’ wind, rather they try to catch it, in order to turn turbines. Because the fuel supply is subject to the vagaries of the weather, wind catchers are unable to provide a reliable, constant supply, of baseload electricity 24/7. They only have an industry average production of 33% (or 8 hours a day) of their rated capacity. Wind droughts and gales, compound this problem. Wind Catchers have only a short working life of 15 to 20 years. But with so many moving parts, maintenance can happen sooner.
‘Make believe’ electricity generators, are Sunshine Catchers (Panels). Because they do not release the energy in the ‘weather fuel’ sunshine, rather they try to catch it, and use inverters, to digitally convert it into electricity. Because the fuel supply is subject to the vagaries of the weather, sunshine Catchers are unable to provide a reliable, constant supply, of baseload electricity 24/7. They only have an industry average production of 25% (or 6 hours a day) of their rated capacity. Sunshine Catchers have a daily, drought of 16 hours of darkness and clouds and rain can severely reduce supply, even down to nothing for a day. Sunshine Catchers have only a short working life of 15 to 20 years. And a wildfire or hailstorm, creating huge problems.
‘Make believe’ can only describe Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). BESS are becoming integrated into sunshine and wind catchers and as stand-alone entities. The main purpose of a BESS is to store surplus energy from sunshine and wind catchers (but if there is no sunshine or wind, then they store up coal or gas generated) and resell it at a higher price. Batteries alone never produce any electricity. Batteries are inefficient as they release less electricity that what they take in. BESS are another renewable that only increases the price of electricity to the consumer. The life of a BESS is relatively short with most battery manufacturers currently offering a five-year battery life. This would mean the capital cost for every MWh stored would be high. With the batteries being replaced every five years the capital cost would be very high. At present BESS are composed of lithium, which makes them subject to runaway fires. They can explode, are very hard to extinguish and can burn for days
WHEN ALL THESE DELUSIONS ARE EXPOSED, THEN THE TRANSITION TO UNRELIABLES WILL COLLAPSE. AND I BELIEVE IT IS ALREADY HAPPENING!
It becomes very apparent that our petition
TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE.
This includes Eraring NOW 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.
Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 19th September 7.5pm AEST. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 45% Brown Coal 11%, Gas 2%, Hydro 10% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 30%. 7.45pm a time when solar has gone for its daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging 30%, but ranging from a pathetic 9% in Qld, up to 88% in SA. With the dread of wind droughts, dropping wind’s contribution to an overall 7 or 8%.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 19/09/25 7.55 pm AEST. In NSW coal is producing 74% Solar 0%, Wind 14%, Qld coal 77%, solar 0% wind 9% Vic Brown coal 44%, solar 0%, wind 51%. SA batteries 8%, gas 4%, solar 0%, wind 88% and Tas hydro 65%, wind 35%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
