IT IS TIME TO TAKE ACTION NOW!
1. It is a fact, that for all the estimated $1.2Trillion cost and effort for Australia to reach Net Zero by 2050. It will have zero effect on the World’s temperature, because: A. It is moisture and clouds, (that keep out a lot of the Sun’s rays and keep the Earth’s reflective heat in) that are the true, Climate Change Gases. B. And no matter, what savings Australia makes in reducing Co2 emissions, it will be swamped by China, India, Russia, USA and the rest of the World’s Co 2 output of their 2,200 coal fired power stations. NET ZERO by 2050 AND ALL TARGETS MUST BE SCRAPPED.
2. It is very apparent that the Transition to Renewables, cannot be powered by 6 – 8 hours of Sunshine a day. (The fact that Solar panels, rooftop and farm, produce nothing for 16 – 18 hours every night, is a rort). And wind turbines are no better, only producing, on the Wind Industries own average 33% or 8 hours a day of their rated capacity. Batteries (BESS) are hopeless. A. They generate no electricity only store it and in fact lose 10 to 15% of going in and out of the BESS, because of the Inverters. They only have a working life of 10 years and overload transmission lines, drawing in and pushing out power. THE TRANSITION TO UNRELIABLES WILL BE A DISASTER AS IT IS COMPLETELY DEPENDENT ON THE WEATHER. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW RELIABLE THAT IS.
3. Now get your head around this thinking? It is Federal Government policy that in order for Australia to reach Net Zero by 2050, all Australia’s coal fired power stations (CFPS) have to be closed. And because of this order, the owners of the CFPS, are not replacing them with new ones or spending anything more on them, but the minimum maintenance.
But this week, Federal Energy Minister, Chris Bowen came out and blamed the coal fire powered stations, for ‘producing intermittent energy’, by having untimely outages. Mr Bowen said, “This unpredictable intermittency of coal is a significant risk to electricity prices and reliability and it’s Australian households and businesses who are left to pay,” he said.
What delusional thinking to have a policy to shut down all CFPS. And then turn around and blame them for not providing base load electricity 24/7. Where are all the Unreliables, who were going to take Coals place.
We then come to the questions? If chasing Net Zero by 2050, is worthless. And the Transition to Unreliables has an unreliable fuel supply subject to fuel droughts, makes it worthless.
THEN WHAT ELECTRICITY GENERATOR, CAN BE RELIED ON TO SUPPLY AUSTRALIA’S ELECTRICITY GRID’S REQUIREMENT?
1. It is extremely important that the electricity be produced for the lowest cost possible. BECAUSE AN ECONOMIC BLACKOUT, (where consumers, both business and domestic consumers, find electricity prices are unaffordable) is JUST AS BAD AS A PHYSICAL BLACKOUT.
2. As well, it is very important to have a reliable and constant supply of base load electricity for every second, of every minute of every 24 hours of every 365 days of the year. (24/7).
3. And it extremely efficient and reduces costs, if the generator has a working life in excess of 50 years.
I believe the answer is High Efficiency, Low Emissions (HELE) Coal fired power stations, because they have access to coal mines, which can supply a constant supply coal (fuel). Which enable coal fired power stations to generate baseload electricity 24/7. And coal fired power stations have a working life expectancy of fifty years and more. And Australia has coal reserves, conservatively estimated to be over 500 years available.
I believe gas is too expensive to be used to generate electricity. Gas fired power stations, could be used to supply peak needs, for short periods, because they have access to a gas (fuel) supply 24/7.
I believe Hydroelectric power stations, are limited in what they can supply, because of a lack of available water.
I believe that Nuclear power stations, are certainly an excellent proposition in the future. BUT HAVING THE BAN ON USING NUCLEAR FOR DOMESTIC PURPOSES, NEEDS TO BE LIFTED FIRST.
So in the interim, it becomes very apparent that our petition
TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE.
This includes Eraring NOW 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 25th October 8.10pm AESDST. Batteries 4%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 46% Brown Coal 14%, Gas 7%, Hydro 14% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 15%. 7.45pm a time when solar has gone for its daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging 15%, but ranging from a pathetic 6% in NSW, up to 71% in SA. With the dread of wind droughts, dropping wind’s contribution to an overall 7 or 8%.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 25/10/25 8.10pm AESDST. In NSW coal is producing 79% Solar 0%, Wind 6%, Qld coal 68%, solar 0% wind 10% Vic Brown coal 56%, solar 0%, wind 19%. SA batteries 15%, gas 14%, solar 0%, wind 71% and Tas hydro 88%, wind 12%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
