Kathryn Porter a UK, independent energy consultant and commentator with over 25 years’ experience in the energy and finance sectors. Is interviewed by Konstantin Kisin and Francis Foster co-hosts of Triggernometry. Kathryn sets out:
1. That Net Zero is purely driven by Ideology and not Science.
2. The Transition to Unreliables is guaranteed to fail
3. That while Sunshine and Wind are free, all the equipment, land and activity. To catch it, convert it distribute, dismantle, dispose and restore is not free. Making Unreliables the most expensive electricity ever.
4. Because Unreliables do not generate electricity with flywheels (which provide smoothing 'Inertia', but only digitally convert it. They lack the ‘Inertia’ that is vitally important to the Grid and high percentage (60%+) of Unreliables will guarantee blackouts
5. Blackouts will cause deaths. Eleven people died when on the 28/4/25 all of mainland Portugal, peninsula Spain, Andorra and parts of southwest France. Were blacked out for up to ten hours.
6. It is vitally important that the planning and building of replacement fossil fuel generators starts as soon as possible. To fill the gap when Unreliables fail as they certainly will do.
A High Efficiency Low Emissions (HELE) coal fired power station takes 3-5 years. Gas fired power stations 3-5 years. Nuclear reactors are estimated to be 8 – 12 years. Kathryn makes the comment the with Small Modular Reactors (SMR), a problem to be solved is the security from terrorists.
NOTE OF INTEREST: It should be noted that Norway is suffering from a drought of rainfall and a low ice melt. As Norway relies highly on hydroelectricity, if the drought continues, it may have to restrict exports to other European Countries and impose electricity rationing.
WHEN ALL THESE DELUSIONS ARE EXPOSED, THEN THE TRANSITION TO UNRELIABLES WILL COLLAPSE. AND I BELIEVE IT IS ALREADY HAPPENING!
It becomes very apparent that our petition
TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE.
This includes Eraring NOW 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 19th September 7.5pm AEST. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 45% Brown Coal 11%, Gas 2%, Hydro 10% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 30%. 7.45pm a time when solar has gone for its daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging 30%, but ranging from a pathetic 9% in Qld, up to 88% in SA. With the dread of wind droughts, dropping wind’s contribution to an overall 7 or 8%.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 19/09/25 7.55 pm AEST. In NSW coal is producing 74% Solar 0%, Wind 14%, Qld coal 77%, solar 0% wind 9% Vic Brown coal 44%, solar 0%, wind 51%. SA batteries 8%, gas 4%, solar 0%, wind 88% and Tas hydro 65%, wind 35%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
