As Net Zero can be shown to be a scam and a Lost Cause. Then the Transition to Unreliables becomes not only a completely unnecessary, but worthless project, that is built on subsidies, and must come crashing down.
Every day it is allowed to continue, it will drive up electricity costs, permanently pollute huge areas of farmland and forests, slaughter thousands of birds and bats, creating environmental devastation. All this demands the Transition to Unreliables must be stopped as soon as possible.
1. Net Zero is a Dead issue.
Whether or not you believe Climate Change is caused by CO2 emissions it is of no consequence, because what Australia does on its own, will make no difference at all.
Because the World’s atmosphere is all, the one atmosphere. When the majority of the rest of the Countries of the World have stopped playing the Net Zero game. As seen in 2024, with China, India, Russia, Indonesia, USA and other Countries, operating 2,200 coal fired power stations, producing over 80% of the World’s CO2 emissions. While having zero consideration of if whether it will increase the World’s temperature And, in 2025 they continued to increase their output, a lot of them burning Australian coal and gas.
As Australia produces only 1.2% of manmade CO2, any reduction, we make will not affect the World’s temperature, at all. This makes Australia’s Net Zero efforts worthless, a complete waste of time, money and resources. And worse it is very counter productive, as it greatly increases the unreliability and cost of electricity, while devastating Rural Australia and the environment.
2. The Transition to Unreliables, becomes a worthless project as well.
As Net Zero has become a dead issue. It in turn, makes the Transition to Unreliables, a worthless project because reducing emissions, no longer has any value. And because Renewables having an extreme lack of weather fuel. Sunshine only 25% or 6 hours a day and Wind (at the right speed) averages only 33% or 8 hours a day. Are extremely inefficient, uneconomical and are only propped up by Government subsidies
3. And Transitioning to Unreliables, as well has extremely negative effects such as.
Making electricity supplied by solar and wind catchers, the most unreliable and expensive electricity possible.
Because Solar only catches and converts sunshine 25% of the time and Wind only catches and converts wind 33% of the time. These energy conversion systems are the worst that can be imagined, for supplying electricity to a Grid, that demands a reliable, constant, low cost, baseload electricity supply 24/7. Because they are unreliable, intermittent and uneconomical, without massive subsidies. Solar and Wind catchers should never be considered for supplying electricity to a Grid, that demands a reliable, constant, low cost, baseload electricity supply 24/7.
Solar and Wind Catchers, are also the most expensive form of electricity supply, because as they are only able to convert and supply electricity 25% and 33% of the time. This creates the requirement to have a backup supply on standby for 100% of the time. Which almost doubles the cost of the supply/generating/storage equipment required to meet the demand of a Grid operating 24/7.
4. Sunshine and Wind are free, but it is the system costs of Unreliables are what matters.
This is exactly what every person familiar with the energy systems understands. Wind, solar might be "free", so are coal, oil, & gas in the ground. It is the delivered cost of energy per kWh that matters not the cost of the input.
And all the following costs for Solar and Wind Catchers, should be included in the delivered cost, if the project is to be viable, even profitable: A. Mining basic materials. B. Transport to manufacturer. C. Manufacture. D. Transport to site. E. Site clearance and construction. F. HV Transmission Lines linking up project. G. Running costs. H. Dismantling of site. I. Disposal of toxic waste (recycling or landfill). J. Restoration of site.
If all these costs were to be recovered for part-time Solar Catchers and part- time Wind Catchers. The price needing to be charged per MWh, would be astronomical. It is only subsidies, carbon credits, priority purchasing forced on electricity retailers, that allows solar and wind catchers to bid such low, even negative prices.
5. Solar and Wind Catchers are unable to bid to supply the Grid for a constant, uninterrupted, extended period of time, such as 4 hours, making it impossible for them to being able to supply electricity to the Grid
AS THE TRUTH IS REVEALED THAT THE TRANSITION TO UNRELIABLES IS A FARCE.
It becomes very apparent that our petition
TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL THE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS AND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE.
This includes Eraring NOW 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Example: Eastern States 14th July 5.15pm AEST. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 44% Brown Coal 16%, Gas 16%, Hydro 10% Diesel 0% Solar 1%, Wind 11%. 5.15pm a time when Solar only a few minutes away from entering its daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging only 11%, but ranging from a pathetic 4% in Qld, up to 40% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 14/07/25 5.15 pm AEST. In NSW coal is producing 72% Solar 0%, Wind 7%, Qld coal 69%, solar 1% wind 4% Vic Brown coal 58%, solar 0%, wind 15%. SA batteries 2%, gas 57%, solar 0%, wind 40% and Tas hydro 80%, wind 16%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
