That our PM Anthony Albanese and Energy Minister Chris Bowen, continue to repeat ad nauseam “That Renewables are the cheapest and most reliable source of electricity”. It must be exposed for the biggest lie ever.
It is sad, that two of our most senior politicians have to be called out for being dishonest, but the reliability of Australias Energy Grid is so essential to every aspect of our economy and society. That it has to be done. After all it is the basis of our petition. “Blackouts will be devastating, they must be avoided at all costs”.
In relation to the claims that Renewables are the cheapest and reliable, this is completely untrue.
1A. The claim Renewables are the cheapest, can only be made, by only looking at a short period of generating time, of say 5 mins. If the period is increased to 24 hours, then Renewables are useless. For while coal, gas and nuclear can generate electricity for 24hrs, as they have a continuous supply of fuel. Renewables on the other hand, have a very restrictive and uncertain supply of weather fuel. That severely restricts the time that they can generate.
1B. For solar, it is a fact that there are no Sunshine mines, providing Sunshine 24/7. This leaves solar panels, producing nothing for 18 hours, every night and a possible 6 hours of generation during the day. But this may be reduced to little or nothing, by clouds and rain.
1C. For Wind turbines, they also have no Wind mine, producing constant, right speed, wind 24/7. The fact is every day the amount of the weather fuel, ‘Wind’ available for Wind Turbines is unknown. And because wind turbines can only produce electricity, when the wind speed is between 12kms/hr and 90kms/hr. The industry reports that Wind Turbines only produce electricity on average for only 35% of their rated capacity or on average for eight hours per day. Wind Turbines can be becalmed for days at a time, producing no electricity. Likewise, if a gale blows for several days no electricity is produced.
1D. When the huge cost of A. Mining, producing, erecting the Solar Panels – Wind Turbines. B. The short time the equipment is generating, because of a lack of fuel. C. The need for a backup, generating system, (coal, gas or nuclear) 24/7. D. The cost of dismantling and disposal of the toxic waste. E. Connecting all the factories to the Grid. F. The $billions lost, of economic agricultural production by permanent pollution, over the following 100 years ongoing.
When the costs involved in A, B. C, D, E and F. Are added together it could run into a $trillion or more. When those costs are applied to the pitiful amount of electricity generated by the Renewables. Instead of being the cheapest $MWh, it becomes the most ridiculously expensive electricity ever thought possible.
2. Because of the fact that Renewables are powered by weather fuels, Sunshine and Wind. The reliability of Renewables electricity generation, is completely changeable as the weather. Making the statement that Renewables, are a reliable way to generate electricity completely untrue.
In the coming Election, I would urge you to vote with Australia’s future and the future of your children and grandchildren in mind. Having said that with the information above as to why Renewables are the most expensive and most unreliable electricity generators. To safeguard our electricity Grid. I would recommend putting the Greens last, Teals and Independents second last, and Labor third last.
ALL THIS MEANS THAT IT BECOMES MORE IMPORTANT THAT OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF MORE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS HAS TO BE HEARD.
This includes Eraring in 2025, now 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 14th April 2025 7.10pm AEST. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 41% Brown Coal 18%, Gas 12%, Hydro 10% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 16%. 7.10pm a time when Solar has entered a daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging 16%, but ranging from only 8% in Qld, up to 38% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 14/04/25, 7.10 pm AEST. In NSW coal is producing 60% Solar 0%, Wind 14%, Qld coal 73%, solar 0% wind 8% Vic Brown coal 68%, solar 0%, wind 24%. SA batteries 0%, gas 54%, solar 0%, wind 38% and Tas hydro 82%, wind 13%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
