Small business owners not being able to take out a salary and some are having to put in thousands of dollars of their savings to stop having to close and layoff their employees. I have heard of people, drawing on their Superannuation to pay their electricity bills. Taking second jobs or applying for higher paying jobs to make ends meet. Some of the elderly went through Winter without heating, because they can’t afford it. These are signs that the economy is in a dire situation.
It is being said that there is a ‘Cost Of Living Crisis’, but I believe that we are already in a Recession. And I believe that looking at their spend-a-thon policies, if a Labor, Greens, Teals, Independents Government is re-elected and Chris Bowen continues to push towards the targets of ‘82% Renewables by 2030’ and trying to reach ‘Net Zero by 2050’. Bowen will crash the Grid and put us into a Depression.
Crashing the Grid, will result in something similar to what happened at Broken Hill on the 17/10/2024 There had been $650m invested Renewable Factories in Broken Hill in a 25km radius of the City. Which consists of. 1. The 200MW Silverton Wind Farm. 2. The 53MW Broken Hill Solar Farm and. 3. The 50MW Big Battery. All of which was meant to make Broken Hill, a self contained Renewable Energy Island. However on the 17th of October 2024, the HV Transmission line connecting it to the Grid was cut by a storm. The result was Broken Hill and surrounding areas, was intermittently blacked out for 10 days. To explain why an 82% Renewables target, is extremely dangerous. It is a fact that there are no Sunshine mines, providing Sunshine 24/7 and no Wind mines, providing ‘just right speed’ wind 24/7.
This leaves solar panels, as being useless for 18 hours, every night and with a patchy 6 hours of generation during the day. Totally unsuitable for supplying a constant supply of baseload electricity to the Grid.
For Wind turbines, every day the amount of the weather fuel, ‘Wind’ available for Wind Turbines is unknown. And because wind turbines can only produce electricity, when the wind speed is between 12kms/hr and 90kms/hr. The industry reports that Wind Turbines only produce electricity on average for only 35% of their rated capacity or on average for eight hours per day. Wind Turbines can be becalmed for days at a time, producing no electricity. Likewise, if a gale blows for several days no electricity is produced
As for adding batteries, they produce no electricity of their own and in fact during storage, they lose 10% to 15% in inverting current from DC to AC. The introduction of batteries into the system only increases the cost to the consumer, creates a fire risk and added disposal problem.
But this unreliability creates an extremely important issue, which is the Stability of the Grid. It has to be maintained at 240v and 50Hz frequency, at every second of the day. If the amount of electricity required, (that is the demand of what required to be drawn out, is not matched almost instantly by increased generation. A drop in voltage will trip automatic switches and cascade into causing blackouts.
Equally if a surge of power from perhaps a huge number of rooftop solar panels coming online at the same time, is allowed into the Grid. Which causes a sudden spike in voltage, which will trip automatic switches and cascade into creating blackouts.
So, I would urge everyone to think carefully before you vote in the coming Election, and vote with Australia’s future and the future of your children and grandchildren in mind.
ALL THIS MEANS THAT IT BECOMES MORE IMPORTANT THAT OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF MORE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS HAS TO BE HEARD.
This includes Eraring in 2025, now 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 14th April 2025 7.10pm AEST. Batteries 2%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 41% Brown Coal 18%, Gas 12%, Hydro 10% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 16%. 7.10pm a time when Solar has entered a daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging 16%, but ranging from only 8% in Qld, up to 38% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 14/04/25, 7.10 pm AEST. In NSW coal is producing 60% Solar 0%, Wind 14%, Qld coal 73%, solar 0% wind 8% Vic Brown coal 68%, solar 0%, wind 24%. SA batteries 0%, gas 54%, solar 0%, wind 38% and Tas hydro 82%, wind 13%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
