With all the chaos in the World at the moment, it is vitally important that we have a reliable, low cost, supply of baseload electricity 24hrs/day, 7days/week. Otherwise blackouts, load shedding and rationing will occur on a daily basis
In the coming Election we have a choice between the Labor, Greens, Teals and Independent’s, target of 82 per cent national renewable electricity generation by 2030. Using a generation system, which consist of Stone Age Solar Panel generators, which are unreliable, inefficient, and uneconomic at best, fuelled by at most 6 hours of weather dependent, Sunshine a day. Plus, Medieval Wind Turbines which are unreliable, inefficient, and uneconomic, fuelled by at best 6 hours of weather dependent, Wind. Supplemented by lithium batteries, which produce absolutely no electricity whatsoever. Batteries only store a surplus, (if it is ever available), lose some 15% of what they do store and release 1 or 2 hours when it is opportunist to get a higher price. And create an extreme fire hazard, particularly in Built Up, Rural areas, homes and under apartments.
The huge problem with Solar is the 16 hour, sunshine drought every night and with wind, is sporadic wind droughts, that can last for hours, days and sometimes weeks.
Relying soly on solar, wind and batteries will have disastrous results, leading to blackouts, load shedding and rationing will occur on a daily basis.
As this factual example clearly shows.
From 4/6/24 4.50pm uninterrupted to 7.00am 5/6/24 (14 hrs) Solar – Wind and Batteries NEVER PRODUCED MORE THAN 6% OF NATIONAL GRID PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS AND WAS EVEN DOWN TO 1%.
Eastern States 4th June 2024 4.50pm EST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 46% Brown Coal 14%, Gas 21%, Hydro 15% Diesel 1% Solar 0%, Wind 1%. Batteries, Solar and Wind, only producing 1% of the input to the Grid.
14 hours later. Eastern States 5th June 2024 6.50am EST. Batteries 1%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 51% Brown Coal 17%, Gas 13%, Hydro 12% Diesel 1% Solar 0%, Wind 5%. Batteries, Solar and Wind, only producing 6% of the input to the Grid.
At 11pm on the 4/6 by State. Electricity was produced by: NSW 88% Black Coal, QLD 91% Black Coal, VIC 81% Brown Coal, SA 92% Gas, TAS 95% Hydro.
The spot price in SA at 6.20pm, peaked at $3,936 per MWh.
The alternative is the Liberal, National, One Nation, Libertarians, Family First proposal. To keep our current coal fired powered stations running as long as needed, to keep current Renewables generating, supplemented by gas peaking generators. And by lifting the ban on domestic Nuclear reactors, build 7 modern Nuclear reactors to eventually support the coal fired power stations.
I believe that this plan will ensure that a reliable, lower cost, supply of baseload electricity 24hrs/day, 7days/week is available. And will allow time to sort out using commonsense what are the most appropriate generators to meet the Australian Grid requirements.
ALL WHICH WILL MEAN THAT IT BECOMES MORE IMPORTANT THAT OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF MORE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS HAS TO BE HEARD.
This includes Eraring in 2025, now 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 20th March 2025 8.50pm AEDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 50% Brown Coal 16%, Gas 12%, Hydro 14% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 8%. 8.50pm a time when Solar has entered a daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging 17%, but ranging from only 3% in Tas, up to 46% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 07/03/25, 8.30 pm AEDST. In NSW coal is producing 78% Solar 0%, Wind 10%, Qld coal 74%, solar 0% wind 6% Vic Brown coal 71%, gas 6% hydro 14%, solar 0%, wind 9%. SA batteries 0%, gas 75%, solar 0%, wind 23% and Tas hydro 87%, wind 10%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
