Now that China, India, Indonesia and now the USA, who emit 60% of the World’s so called Climate Change emissions have left the Net Zero by 2050 game. And they have now reverted to firing up their 2,196 coal fired power stations it is plain to see the Net Zero by 2050 game is finished.
For Australia, which only contributes 1.4% of the so-called Green House Gases to continue trying by the Transition to Renewables and closing its 18 Coal fired power stations to reduce its emissions to Net Zero by 2050, has absolutely no benefit and is only causing a severe case of self-harm. Shown by energy bills going through the roof, people becoming homeless, a million people relying on food relief. Thousands of businesses closing and the Country deindustrializing
In the meantime, reality is hitting the Renewables industry very hard, with economic losses and project closures.
Example 1. Zen Energy. Zen operates a wholesale – retail business, purchasing power from zero-emission developers via so-called power purchase agreements, and reselling it to retail clients. However Zen owners were not aware of wind droughts (a common occurrence to those familiar with the weather) and a several week wind drought in May 2024, created a shortage of wind generated electricity, which drove up the spot electricity market to exceed $150/MWh and Zen had to buy at the higher price to fulfill contracts, leading to a $50 million financial loss for the year.
Wind droughts, as said earlier, are not unusual and happen very often, for days and weeks at a time. In my opinion they will see the closure of every wind farm, once common sense arrives and subsidies stop.
Example 2. Green Hydrogen Project closed for good. Plans for a $750 million green hydrogen facility at the Port Pirie smelter have been shelved, the SA state government says. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03-25/green-hydrogen-project-at-port-pirie-shelved/105092634
This South Australian Green Hydrogen project joins a long list, both in Australia and Overseas of Green Hydrogen projects that have been abandoned, 99% while still on the drawing board. When it was realised that 3 or 4 times more renewable energy was needed to separate green hydrogen from water, making the process more costly than the green hydrogen is worth. And then there are practicalities of needing to reach a temperature of -257dC to convert it into liquid hydrogen. Plus because hydrogen is such a small molecule, (it will pass through normal metals) it needs to be stored in cryogenic containers, even so there is a daily loss of between 1% and 5% a day. Overall the decision has been made that Green Hydrogen projects, along with nearly every other Renewable project are only loss making exercises.
AS REALITY CREATES LOSSES AND WITHDRAWLS OF RENEWABLE PROJECTS IT BECOMES MORE IMPORTANT THAT OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF MORE AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS HAS TO BE HEARD.
This includes Eraring in 2025, now 2027, Yallourn NOW 2032), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 20th March 2025 8.50pm AEDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 50% Brown Coal 16%, Gas 12%, Hydro 14% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 8%. 8.50pm a time when Solar has entered a daily 16 hours (lack of fuel), zero production period. Unreliable wind is all over the place averaging 17%, but ranging from only 3% in Tas, up to 46% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 07/03/25, 8.30 pm AEDST. In NSW coal is producing 78% Solar 0%, Wind 10%, Qld coal 74%, solar 0% wind 6% Vic Brown coal 71%, gas 6% hydro 14%, solar 0%, wind 9%. SA batteries 0%, gas 75%, solar 0%, wind 23% and Tas hydro 87%, wind 10%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
