I believe that if we think we are in a ‘cost of living crisis’, we have seen nothing like what will happen when the blackouts begin, as they surely will in this mad rush to close our coal fired power stations.
I would reiterate, that our Federal and State Politicians, particularly the Energy Ministers, Greens, Teals and Independent MP’s. Are illiterate, in understanding that as a modern society, we rely completely on refrigeration for keeping a majority of our food supplies from defrosting, becoming inedible and needing to be thrown out.

The risk of food spoilage begins in the coolrooms of every food processing business in the Country and then moves to the coolrooms of every food distribution business, flows on to the coolrooms of supermarkets, cafés, restaurants and finally to the individual house or unit’s refrigerator and/or freezer.
With the ‘Transition to Renewables’ and the closing of our reliable coal fired power stations, Governments and the AEMO is relying on unreliable, intermittent, weather fueled solar and wind electricity generators. The risk of having blackouts in all or some of the individual parts of the food supply chain is very high. The economic losses from blackouts in any section would be very serious and a series of blackouts would see businesses fail, with the resultant job losses. On an individual basis for a householder to lose the contents of their fridge and freezer on one occasion would be extremely serious. A series of two or more blackouts could see a family or individual facing starvation.
If these blackouts were to become a chronic situation across the country, it would lead to the extremely situation of widespread starvation. A ‘BLACK EVENT MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN AND MAKES OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS, IS SO IMPORTANT.
This includes Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 26th February 2025 9.15pm AEDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 49% Brown Coal 13%, Gas 11%, Hydro 12% Diesel 0% Solar 0%, Wind 14%. 9.15pm a time when Solar has entered 16 hours, of generating nothing. Wind is all over the place averaging 14%, but ranging from only 6% in NSW, up to 50% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 26/02/25, 9.15pm AEDST. In NSW coal is producing 81% solar 0% wind 6%, Qld coal 71%, solar 0% wind 8% Vic Brown coal 53%, solar 0% wind 25%. SA batteries 0%, gas 50%, solar 0% Wind 50% and Tas gas 6%, hydro 82%, wind 12%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
