It continues to amaze me that some people believe Solar Farms, Wind Farms, Batteries and Pumped Solar all are magic Renewable electricity generators that generate 24hrs/7days and should be subsidised by electricity consumers in order to have a supply of extremely expensive, unreliable electricity.
Statements True or false.
1. Solar panels produce just as much electricity at night when the Sun has set. As they do during the day, when the Sun is shining?
False. As solar panels collect sunshine and convert it into Direct Current electricity. They produce nothing at night, for 16 hours or more. And also nothing when the Sun’s rays are blocked by clouds and rain. This makes solar panels extremely inefficient electricity generators, only being able on average to generate 26% or 6 hours of every day.
2. Wind turbines produce electricity at their full rated capacity 24/7.
False. Wind Turbines are ‘Fake and Not fit for purpose’, electricity generators. That are fueled by a weather fuel the Wind. That are able to only produce electricity, when the wind speed is between 12kms/hr and 90kms/hr. The industry reports that Wind Turbines only produce electricity on average for only 35% of their rated capacity or on average for eight hours per day. Wind Turbines can be becalmed for days at a time, producing no electricity. 3. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) just need to be plugged into the system and when the Sun don’t shine or the Wind don’t blow, the BESS kicks in and fill s the gap.
False. BESS’s alone can never generate any electricity. They only store supposedly, surplus electricity generated by solar and wind farms (and from coal, gas or hydro generators). Batteries are inefficient as they lose electricity as it has to be converted (by an Inverter) from DC (Direct current) to AC (Alternating current) as the electricity, goes into and out off the BESS. BESS's have a short 10 year or less working life, all put together making them very inefficient and unenomical.
4. Pumped Hydro (such as Snowy 2), similar to a BESS is a good addition to the Renewables group.
False. A pumped hydro project alone can never generate any electricity. It only stores supposedly surplus electricity generated by solar and wind farms (and from coal, gas or hydro generators). Pumped Hydro is more inefficient than a BESS, as it stores electricity by using lower cost electricity to pump water from a lower reservoir to a reservoir at a higher level. When electricity is in short supply (after Sunset) it releases the water, back down to the lower reservoir, driving electricity generators on the way and meeting a shortfall of electricity requirements. A large amount of electricity is used in the process and t is a very inefficient way of storing electricity.
In relation to Snowy 2, its cost was estimated at $2billion when it began in 2019 and it was estimated to be in operation by 2021. $4.3billion had been spent by June 2023, with the completed cost blowing out to $12billion, with an estimated completion date of December 2028. It would not surprise me if Snowy 2 fails to produce much electricity, if any electricity when it is completed.
While these Renewable delusions are promoted. Because of extremely high energy bills, businesses and manufacturing close or go offshore. Homes have people going hungry, or without heating or cooling, or even being disconnected from the Grid altogether.
This is a tragedy and for these reasons the Renewables Transition must be stopped.
WHICH PROVIDES ALL THE MORE REASON WHY OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS, IS SO IMPORTANT.
This includes Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 9th February 2025 4.35pm AEDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 46% Brown Coal 9%, Gas 3%, Hydro 3% Diesel 0% Solar 24%, Wind 15%. 4.35pm a time when Solar should be in full flight is producing 24%. But another 3 hours and it will enter its 16 hours ‘bye, byes’ period when it produces nothing Wind is all over the place averaging 15%, but ranging from only 2% in NSW, up to 57% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 09/02/25, 4.35pm AEDST. Coal is producing in NSW 64% Wind 5%, Qld coal 64%, wind 2% Vic Brown coal 40%, wind 46%. SA gas 19%, Wind 57% and Tas 66% hydro, wind 34%.
WITHOUT COAL AUSTRALIA WOULD BE BLACKED OUT.
