The revolt has begun The Independent Food Distributors Australia, employers supplying food to major supermarkets and thousands of cafes, restaurants and pubs have launched a revolt against Anthony Albanese’s energy policies, urging Labor to dump its 82 percent renewables target and focus on ramping up more gas and coal production to bring electricity prices down in the short term. And other business leaders are VERY concerned. Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry chief executive Andrew McKellar said the Albanese government was “putting all the eggs in one basket” with its renewables-focused policy calling for a fast-tracking of gas exploration, extraction and generation projects to avoid price spikes and blackouts. But the Federal Government, has got its head in the clouds. Federal Treasurer, Jim Chalmers has brushed off concerns from the nation’s largest business body that Labor will have to revisit its renewables target of 82 percent by 2030, amid crippling energy prices and looming supply shortfalls, saying the government will hit its green goals. The Australian 4th Feb 2025.
Please send this update to your local Federal and State members, family and everyone you know. And give them a reality check. Educate them that setting an 82 percent renewables target, is dangerous and can only be made by people with no practical experience, who don’t realise that anything more than 30% Renewables feeding into the Grid will guarantee blackouts.
Carefully explain what is the critically important part of the electricity Grid. The electricity grid is not the physical generators, poles and wires, sub stations, switches, light bulbs, etc. THE IMPORTANT PART OF THE GRID IS THE ELECTRONS (ELECTRICITY) FLOWING THROUGH IT. If the physical grid has no electricity flowing through it, it is useless. It is the flow of electrons, through the grid that brings the grid ‘alive’.
The huge requirement for the Grid is that it is critically important, that the flow of electrons be perfectly stable. This means that the electricity being drawn out of the Grid has to be matched exactly by the electricity that is being put into the Grid. And the overall stability of the Grid has to be maintained at 240v and 50Hz frequency, at every second of the day.
If the amount of electricity required (peak periods) is not matched by increased generation, for a very short time. The drop in voltage will trip automatic safety switches and cause a blackout.
If the amount of electricity being put in (by a rush of rooftop solar) is too much. A surge/spike will trip automatic safety switches and cause a blackout.
IF A PART OF THE GRID GETS OUT OF THIS BALANCE FOR EVEN A FEW SECONDS, A CIRCUIT BREAKER WILL TRIP AND SET OFF A CASCADE THAT WILL END IN A MAJOR BLACKOUT.
Renewables are totally unsuitable to supply electricity to the Grid, because their fuel supply is unknown and intermittent. Certainly, it cannot be turned on to meet demand.
With solar the only certainty is that there will be a seventeen to eighteen hour drought every night and the possibly with cloud and rain a mini drought can occur at anytime.
With wind its fuel supply (the wind) is equally uncertain. As wind turbines need a wind speed between 12km/hr and 90km/hr to operate, calm periods (wind droughts) and gales mean long periods when no electricity is generated. Throw in gusts of wind and balancing the input to the Grid becomes a nightmare.
Because of the huge fluctuations in fuel supplies, the output of Renewables fluctuates widely. If 82% of Renewables, (anything above 30% will be serious) was ever reached in the Grid, the likelihood of cascading blackouts WOULD BE INEVITABLE.
ALL THE MORE REASON WHY OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS, IS SO IMPORTANT.
This includes Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 11th January 2025 8.05Pm AEDST. Batteries 1%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 45% Brown Coal 14%, Gas 8%, Hydro 11% Diesel 0% Solar 1%, Wind 19%. 8.05pm a time when Solar is just starting its 17 hour sleep, producing just 1%. Wind is all over the place averaging 27%, but ranging from only 7% in Qld, up to 94% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 11/01/25 8.05pm AEDST. Coal is producing in NSW 77% Wind 16%, Qld coal 74%, wind 6% Vic Brown coal 53%, wind 22%. SA gas 26%, Wind 69% and Tas 83% hydro, wind 15%.
