As stated in our Change Petition, Blackouts will be devastating, they must be avoided at all costs! It doesn’t matter if it is a physical blackout or an economic blackout (where the consumer can’t afford the electricity). To the electrified and computerised Australian community, that relies on a constant, reliable, supply of baseload electricity 24/7. A blackout, has the same effect as a heart attack on a human being, everything comes to a stop. It will affect shopping centres, industry, public utilities and services. Eventually every individual’s, laptop, phone, will stop. Water will stop flowing, sewerage will backup and fridges and freezers, both domestic and in Supermarkets will defrost. The food loss will be enormous.
The choice as I see it in the coming Federal Election is between:
- The Labor Party, Greens, Teals and Independents who are targeting by 2035 an 82% Renewables target using ‘Stone Age’ Solar, ‘Medieval’ Wind (both limited by weather fuels to only producing for an average of eight hours a day). And Batteries which generate no electricity but only store it. The 82% target would mean that the Grid was unstable and the chances of a crash would be about 82%. In achieving 82%, it would mean not maintaining and/or closing our current coal fired power stations.
This the disaster that could result. From 4/6/2024 4.50pm uninterrupted to 7.00am 5/6/2024 (for 14 hrs) Solar – Wind and Batteries NEVER PRODUCED MORE THAN 6% OF NATIONAL GRID PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS AND WAS EVEN DOWN TO 1%.
A BLACKED OUT ECONOMY WILL BE CRIPPLED FOR WEEKS, EVEN YEARS!
AEMO Dashboard Eastern States 4th June 2024 4.50pm EST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 46% Brown Coal 14%, Gas 21%, Hydro 15% Diesel 1% Solar 0%, Wind 1%. Batteries, Solar and Wind, only producing 1% of the input to the Grid.
14 hours later. Eastern States 5th June 2024 6.50am EST. Batteries 1%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 51% Brown Coal 17%, Gas 13%, Hydro 12% Diesel 1% Solar 0%, Wind 5%. Batteries, Solar and Wind, only producing 6% of the input to the Grid.
2. Or the Liberals, Nationals, One Nation and Libertarian Parties, who want the ban on using domestic Nuclear energy lifted, our current our current coal fired power stations maintained and some Renewable solar, wind, and batteries being maintained. In the meantime, I believe commonsense will prevail and practical, economical plans will be produced and acted upon.
TO ME THIS POLICY IS THE ONE THAT WILL GIVE US THE BEST OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A CONSTANT, RELIABLE, SUPPLY OF BASE LOAD ELECTRICITY 24/7.

IN THE MEANTIME PROMOTE OUR PETITION TO STOP THE CLOSURE OF ALL AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS.
This includes Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 11th January 2025 8.05Pm AEDST. Batteries 1%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 45% Brown Coal 14%, Gas 8%, Hydro 11% Diesel 0% Solar 1%, Wind 19%. 8.05pm a time when Solar is just starting its 17 hour sleep, producing just 1%. Wind is all over the place averaging 27%, but ranging from only 7% in Qld, up to 94% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 11/01/25 8.05pm AEDST. Coal is producing in NSW 77% Wind 16%, Qld coal 74%, wind 6% Vic Brown coal 53%, wind 22%. SA gas 26%, Wind 69% and Tas 83% hydro, wind 15%.
