2025 has to be the year when commonsense, overrides wishful thinking and the supply of the lowest cost, most reliable, base load electricity supplies in the World 24hrs, 7days a week. Is a non-negotiable, guaranteed policy.
With this in mind, I have adjusted our petition to now read:
THE FACT THAT THE TRANSITION TO SOLAR AND WIND WILL BE A CERTAIN FAILURE, UNDERLINES OUR DEMAND THAT THE INTENTION TO CLOSE ALL AUSTRALIAN COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.
This includes Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045 and all other coal fired power stations.
And no consideration of them being closed be considered until assured supplies of base load electricity 24/7 is available from coal, gas or uranium powered generators. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest and to maintain the supply of base load electricity 24/7 that is essential to STOP the Grid from collapsing.
Any Federal or State Energy Minister and the Australian Energy Marketing Authority (AEMO) who has the recklessness to state that blackouts are in anyway acceptable. Needs to be challenged and whenever possible replaced by someone who understands the extreme disruption that blackouts cause.
Such as the AEMO who is quoted in this Age article as warning that Victoria has the highest chance of any eastern state of being hit by blackouts and failures this summer and this risk is outside its acceptable guidelines.
Which has the added concern that the Victorian Government is banking on payments made to big power users to scale back (cut back or load shed) their electricity consumption during peak periods on hot days to avoid blackouts this (2023) summer.
THIS ONCE AGAIN UNDERLINES THE VITAL IMPORTANCE OF OUR PETITION TO KEEP OUR COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS RUNNING.

KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.
Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 17TH December 2024 6.25am AEDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 47% Brown Coal 17%, Gas 4%, Hydro 4% Diesel 0% Solar 1%, Wind 27%. 6.25am a time when Solar is just ending its 17 hour sleep, producing just 1%. Wind is all over the place averaging 27%, but ranging from only 7% in Qld, up to 94% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 17/12/24 6.25am AEDST. Coal is producing in NSW 74% Wind 21%, Qld coal 80%, wind 7% Vic Brown coal 63%, wind 36%. SA gas 5%, Wind 94% and Tas 63% hydro, wind 37%.
