Chris said. “It’s odds-on the Albanese government will deliver billions more in electricity subsidies some time after the Reserve Bank board meets next February. Because, if not for the Ponzi scheme of state and federal governments laundering taxpayer dollars back through power bills, electricity prices would be 66 per cent higher today”.
Chris, goes on to say. “Economist Chris Richardson (explains, he) has calculated the difference between the subsidised and real cost of power from figures hiding in plain sight in the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics consumer price index.
Richardson wrote on X “that the politics of surging electricity prices were dire, so the federal government would almost certainly return to the taxpayer till to mask the bill shock. But that’s another $3.5bn into the economy for the RBA to juggle,” he wrote. “So they may well keep the RBA guessing … because that’s what makes sense in a game of chicken.” Unquote.
That means for our petition team members (and share with everyone you are able to), THE FACT THAT IS THAT WITHOUT GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES (USING OUR OWN BORROWED MONEY) OUR POWER BILLS WOULD BE 66% HIGHER. For instance, if your electricity bill is $2,400 a year now. Unsubsidized, would see an increase of $1,584, for a total bill of $3,984. You can calculate what your own increase would be. First find out what your 12 month total is. Then divide the answer by 100, multiply that answer by 66. The answer you get is the 66% increase that is being covered by Govt subsidies. Add your 12 month total and your 66% increase to get the total bill.

WHICH LEADS TO THE VITAL IMPORTANCE OF OUR PETITION TO KEEP OUR COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS RUNNING.
To restate, (beginning with Liddell which closed and is now demolished in April 2023, Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045). AND THAT NONE OF THESE COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS BE DEMOLISHED AFTER IT IS CLOSED, BUT BE MOTHBALLED, SO IT CAN BE RESTARTED IN THE EVENT, THAT A SHORTAGE OF ELECTRICAL GENERATION REQUIRES IT TO BE RESTARTED. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 17TH December 2024 6.25am AEDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 47% Brown Coal 17%, Gas 4%, Hydro 4% Diesel 0% Solar 1%, Wind 27%. 6.25am a time when Solar is just ending its 17 hour sleep, producing just 1%. Wind is all over the place averaging 27%, but ranging from only 7% in Qld, up to 94% in SA.
To underline the importance of our coal fired generators 17/12/24 6.25am AEDST. Coal is producing in NSW 74% Wind 21%, Qld coal 80%, wind 7% Vic Brown coal 63%, wind 36%. SA gas 5%, Wind 94% and Tas 63% hydro, wind 37%.
