THIS VIEW BY THE AEMO THAT “RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS” CAN SUPPLY BASELOAD POWER IS A PIPE DREAM AND THAT IT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR NEW SOUTH WALES, VICTORIA AND SOUTH AUSTRALIA TO HAVE MAJOR BLACKOUTS IS COMPLETELY DELUSIONAL THINKING.
THE ROLE OF THE AEMO SHOULD BE TO KEEP EVERY LIGHT ON 24/7. IF THEY ARE NOT PREPARED TO MAKE THAT THEIR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY AND FORGET ABOUT REDUCING EMMISSIONS THEN I BELIEVE THAT THE AEMO BOARD SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A BOARD WHO WILL DO IT!
And as the title of our petition states “BLACKOUTS WILL BE DEVASTATING! THEY MUST BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS”.
It can’t be repeated too often what the effects of Blackouts can be. Blackouts will affect everybody, financial systems will suddenly close down, Banks, Shopping Centers, Cafe', manufacturers, just everything will be unable to trade or operate, particularly with a lack of refrigeration leading to widespread food spoilage in both Supermarkets, cafes and homes, leading to food shortages. High rise buildings, apartments and homes will become uninhabitable. Such simple items such as garage doors will not open. Schools will need to close, traffic chaos will ensure as traffic lights will shut down, boom gates will stay down, street and all lighting will be out, TV, telecommunications and the NBN will shut down, the supply of water will be interrupted and sewerage services will backup. Hospitals, nursing homes and people relying on heating, cooling or life maintaining devices may die.
This again underlines how important our petition is. In that (beginning with Liddell which closed in April 2023, Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in (2032 now 2028), Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045). AND THAT NONE OF THESE COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS BE DEMOLISHED AFTER IT IS CLOSED, BUT BE MOTHBALLED, SO IT CAN BE RESTARTED IN THE EVENT, THAT A SHORTAGE OF ELECTRICAL GENERATION REQUIRES IT TO BE RESTARTED. Even if this requires the coal fired generators be compulsory acquired by the relevant Government, in the National interest.
May I strongly urge all business owners, large and small. CEO’s Managers, those in charge of aged care homes, and other public institutions, everyone in a position of management. Homeowners, etc. Reliable, low-cost power is essential. Blackouts are a diabolically, serious issue. Talk with your management, boards, staff about how it will affect your business.
The ACT Government claims that they are totally renewable energy powered. The ACT Government is deluding themselves and doesn’t realise how wrong they are. As all their electricity comes from the NSW Grid. It is more likely to be anywhere between 60% to 80% fossil fuels and only 20% to 30% unreliables, with the damage unreliables are doing to Rural Australia the whole project is a disaster.

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: Eastern States 28th August 2024 2.55pm EST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 30% Brown Coal 14%, Gas 1%, Hydro 3% Diesel 0% Solar 24%, Wind 26%. 2.55pm coming to a a Peak Period, a sunny and very windy day Solar is producing 24% , but another two hours it will be zero and the wind is so unreliable. UNRELIABLES SHOULD NEVER BE USED TO POWER A MODERN ECONOMY.
