Hi Team members,
While Australia is chasing Net Zero CO2 (which means taking as much Carbon Dioxide ‘CO2’ out of the atmosphere, as is released by human means). It needs to be realised that putting increased amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere is actually a very good thing to do and Net Zero is actually a pointless exercise.
An excerpt from ‘Carbon Dioxide benefits the World’. Green plants grow faster with more CO2. Many also become more drought-resistant because higher CO2 levels allow plants to use water more efficiently. More abundant vegetation from increased CO2 is already apparent. Satellite images reveal significant greening of the planet in recent decades, especially at desert margins, where drought resistance is critical. This remarkable planetary greening is the result of a mere 30% increase of CO2 from its pre-industrial levels. Still higher CO2 levels will bring still more benefits to agriculture. Read much more about the benefits of increased CO2 at https://co2coalition.org/publications/carbon-dioxide-benefits-the-world-see-for-yourself/
In an effort to achieve a pointless Net Zero, our environment and. A. Our special and unique wildlife in particular Wedge Tail Eagles, birds, bats and bees, onshore are facing extinction. B. While offshore migrating Whales breeding patterns are at risk of being disrupted by mammoth Wind Turbines.
A. It was reported in The Australian 17th Aug ’23. ‘Cutting-Edge’ Tasmanian Wind Farm still a Wedged Tail Eagle killer’. The Cattle Hill Wind Farm in Tasmania’s Central Highlands has reportedly killed eight Eagles in less than four years, five in the past twelve months. “We should be very concerned about this because what we’re looking at here is the start of a planned huge industry,” said eagle expert and wildlife biologist Nick Mooney.
“Everybody has ignored rule 101. That is, if you’re worried about eagles, don’t put wind farms where there’s lots of eagles, and the overseas (scientific) literature stresses that.”
Mooney was aware of 61 wedge-tailed eagles and five white-bellied sea-eagles being found dead or incapacitated during periods of formal mortality monitoring at Tasmania’s existing wind farms. This was likely the tip of an iceberg, with some wind farms no longer required to monitor for bird deaths and formal monitoring restricted to areas under turbines, missing birds that die further afield after being struck.
B. Scientists fear one of the most endangered whale species in the world is at risk as the Australian government looks to fight climate change using offshore wind farms. Blue whales and Southern Right whales could be affected if the government goes ahead with a huge offshore wind farm in a stretch of water off Victoria’s southwest coast known to be an important breeding and feeding ground for the gentle giant. https://www.kidsnews.com.au/environment/scientists-say-planned-wind-farms-could-be-putting-whales-at-risk/news-story/81c498704bb556c037a195ca257c70c0
With the previously mentioned, CATASTROPHIC BUSHFIRE RISK, created by scattering 10’s of ,000’s of Wind Turbines on 250m high towers and millions of solar panels across rural Australia. Followed now by the exposed huge kill of Wedge Tail Eagles, other birds. Bats and Bees and the proposed disruption offshore of migrating Whales.
I believe the transition to Unreliables, is going to end as a BIG FAILURE.
We have had success with Victoria’s Loy Yang A coal fired power station being extended to 2035 and Eraring in NSW is under discussion. As this situation unfolds, it becomes even more imperative that we keep up the pressure. Namely ‘That the closure of all coal fired power stations be reconsidered. But if they are closed, then (beginning with Liddell which was closed in April 2023, Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in 2028, Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045). That they not be demolished, but be mothballed, in order that they can be reopened (when the unreliables fail as they surely will).
Please promote our petition as widely as possible, the public is becoming very aware as high electricity prices are really starting to bite. https://www.change.org/p/blackouts-will-be-devastating-they-must-be-avoided-at-all-costs I would value it if you are able to donate $20 or $50 Change.org and also promote it on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp or Email.
KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.
Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
We are up to 2,106 signatures, let’s increase it by many more, everyone’s future depends on it. Continue to spread the word, to all family, friends, anyone you meet, particularly discuss it with shop and business owners. Ask the question, “How do you plan to cope when the blackouts come? Caused by this senseless transition to UNRELIABLES
