Eastern Australia is known as one of the most fire prone areas on Earth. In 2009 Victoria experienced the 2009 Black Saturday Bushfires, with 175 people losing their lives, another 414 were injured. More than a million wild and domesticated animals were lost and 450,000 hectares of land was burnt.
With this history in mind, is it inviting disaster to scatter thousands of Wind Turbines, right across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. The wind turbines mounted on between 180 meters to 300-meter high towers, if they caught alight at any time, but particularly on Total Fire Ban Days would scatter burning debris over vast distances, (completely over any firebreaks), starting uncontrollable bush fires.

The great increase of the possibility of uncontrollable bush fires, during Summer, should be of great concern to surrounding landholders and people in towns and Cities, even if they are hundreds of kilometres away from wind turbines.
As well, the owners of wind farms, may be forced to obtain (if they can) a public liability policy of a $billion or more, in order to pay compensation if a bush fire is caused by one or more of their wind turbines, that causes devastation over a wide area. If this happens the owners of wind farms may exit the industry, as it becomes less profitable and more of a liability.
As this situation unfolds, it becomes even more imperative that the first aim of our petition to be achieved. Namely ‘That the closure of all coal fired power stations be reconsidered. But if they are closed, then (beginning with Liddell which was closed in April 2023, Eraring in 2025, Yallourn in 2028, Bayswater in 2033, with Loyang A in 2045). That they not be demolished, but be mothballed, in order that they can be reopened (when the unreliables fail as they surely will).

Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
