Hello Human Family!

For those of you just tuning in: about 15 months ago I was forcibly transferred against my will into, essentially, a prison hospital for reporting the death of Jean Busch, another transgender patient.

I started this petition in an attempt get Jean's death investigated as well as allegations of systemic abuse against transgender patients in MA's DMH hospitals.

My own story has become intimately intertwined with Jean's, CaSonya's and Haywood's but, fortunately, something positive has come out of all this grief. 

Because of your signatures and 1000's of hours of advocacy I am no longer facing relentless assaults and abuse. I had a good day today for the first time in 15 months! I cannot thank you enough!

And now we can further focus our efforts on the goals in this petition. I know we are determined to not let Jean, CaSonya's and Haywood's death be in vain.

This is not just about Queer or Black or Brown patients. 

We all want to know when we, inevitably, are treated in a hospital, or when our loved ones are treated in hospitals, that we will be treated with dignity and respect and that our lives will be valued and protected. THIS is ultimately what we are fighting for.

(Unrelated) -> Help a Palestinian Family in Gaza stay alive!

I have been working with a Palestinian family that reached out to me for help. They are in Gaza. Shereen (Shery) is a lawyer whose life was devastated by the war. She is trying to help her family stay alive. Her mother needs special medication that is getting harder and harder to find. 

I work with a group of Palestinian and Palestinian Americans that help vet Gazan families requesting help and they assure me that Shery and her family are legitimately in Gaza and could die without immediate intervention. 

I, and others, have worked very hard to ensure that Sherry's GoFundMe is legitimate. If you feel called to donate please feel assured it's actually going to save a family in Gaza.
