With the increasing amount of Black people abused and murdered by police, it is important for fellow Black brothers and sisters, as well as allies, to know that we support them. On October 29th, Larry “Sincere” Bouie, 41, who was said to have been emotionally disturbed, was shot by a Paterson police officer. He was unarmed and is now in critical condition. The complete details have not been disclosed. Specifically, the police officer’s name has not been disclosed. We demand transparency. We demand accountability. We demand justice. We want the full story of what transpired that night when our brother, Sincere, was shot!

We demand the release of the officer’s name responsible for shooting Larry “Sincere” Bouie.

We demand the release of any footage of the shooting that night.

We demand divestment of Paterson Police Department funds and investment into trained professionals. In the case of Larry Bouie, mental health response units, skilled in the ability to de-escalate the “emotionally disturbed,” could have prevented the shooting that occurred.
 

We demand a Civilian Complaint Review Board in the City of Paterson. The public needs a strong, independent review board that is able to be transparent when investigating police abuses and hold law enforcement accountable.
