Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read and, if you agree with our plight, sign it! This petition is being written for the sake of black cats. Mostly around the world, they are considered good luck or good fortune. But over here in The States, they are considered bad luck. This is a newer belief which was propaganda promoted during the witch trials because black cats were considered cohorts of witches. The genocidal killing of black cats was so predominant that it worsened the Bubonic Plague by killing the rodents' predator. Still today, black cats are persecuted by means of torture, torment and killings. This must stop. It's so bad, that shelter's will not adopt them out on Halloween, since they most likely will be hurt. I am proposing stricter regulations against those who harm black cats in any manner. Maybe it's ery own law is due. Costly fines and jailtime mandated for those victimizing these poor, defenseless, harmless creatures. The penalties should be higher on Halloween. The regulation needs to be specific to black cats. Additionally, I am proposing an awareness campaign, to educate the masses about their wrong way of treatment and thinking.
