Many constituents reach out to Greenville County Council regarding a variety of issues and concerns.  It appears there are a handful of council members that will forward these emails to friends, confidents, and people who should not be privy to this information.  By sharing these emails for whatever reason, they are putting you (their constituents) at harm.

I would ask that in January 2021 when they set their rules they include guidance regarding the sharing of confidential constituent emails and communication. A failure to include such guidance and self-regulation will be viewed as a deliberate effort to reduce transparency. It should be our recommendation that an advisory board of constituents be formed in 2021 to provide input and oversight to the annual rule development process. This step will ensure that constituents voices are heard, and our rights and privacy are protected.
