Hi, I'm Matt. I'm signing this petition alongside The Humane League because I'm tired of greedy companies like BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse saying they'll go cage-free for good publicity... then for seven years show zero progress on removing cruel cages from its egg supply chain.

And when seemingly doing nothing at all increases the mental and physical suffering of numerous animals in BJ's supply chain, there needs to be immediate action. BJ's needs to show evidence it's honoring the cage-free promise it made now.

Living in Southern California, BJ's Restaurants are all over, and its corporate offices are right down the road in Huntington Beach. It's frustrating to learn that a local chain isn't being honest with customers. Especially when earlier this year, the Supreme Court upheld California's Proposition 12, which prohibits the use of cruel cages for egg-laying hens, among other protections for animals. Did BJ's — which has restaurants in most US states, and 60 in California alone—miss this news?

Or is BJ's choosing to ignore it? BJ's does have a record of ignoring what is ethical— including missing its original 2020 goal for the majority of its eggs to be cage-free, and countless demands from guests nationwide to do better! How can we actually trust BJ's to be 100% cage-free by 2025?

So please join me in petitioning BJ's to publicly post progress on its cage-free egg promise to its website! Because a casual-dining chain like BJ's should not be casual about animal cruelty.
