The Issue

This petition is to address the the stigma of mental health crisis and mental health issues that many law enforcement officers may be openly or secretly suffering from, by  providing officers with consistent counseling and therapy. This petition is requesting funding for additional mental health treatment for law enforcement officers who personally struggle from traumatic stress.

Instances of violent behavior may be prevented if mental health treatment, and an open atmosphere of communication is readily available.

It is in addressing and treating mental health crisis, we can ensure greater safety for San Francisco.

We are requesting that our city leaders direct a portion of funds provided to the San Francisco Police department and San Francisco Sheriff Office to be used to provide a significant increase in staffing of psychologists and psychiatrists and licensed mental health counselors to be on site/on call to provide weekly group counseling and biweekly individual therapy at officers request  in the San Francisco police department and the San Francisco Sheriff Office.
