Dear Friends of the Chancery,
The fate of the Chancery and other historic properties on the St. Peter’s Cathedral Campus (Piety Hill) is in the hands of the Rockford City Council when they meet tonight at 5:30pm.
Please join us at the meeting. Our “backs are against the wall” as the Codes & Regulations Committee voted last week against granting Landmark Status. We have several speakers signed up to speak during the public comment period of the meeting this evening to press our points, but your presence there will be very helpful to make sure the Council understands just how much support there is for saving the Chancery!
There have also been a number of great editorials in favor of our position. I’ve included one of them in the link to this update from Rockford Register Star Columnist, Chuck Sweeny, that appeared in Sunday’s paper. Mr. Sweeny captures the substance of our press conference from Friday regarding my letter to Pope Francis and he supports our efforts to save the Chancery!
Thank you all again for your support!
Let’s keep fighting to save these incredible Rockford Landmarks!
All my best,
Larry
