Small Heath Leisure Centre is deprived of basic funding to function as well it could do with a appalling reception area and inadequate damaged seating , poor toilets , ceilings in disrepair and walls in great need of a lick of paint . This leisure centre is central  to Balsall Heath, Newtown , Bordesley Green, Yardley etc .  In view of the fact Newton Leisure Centre is closing with no leisure centres in Balsall Heath, Bordesley Green, and Yardley it is essential to improve the dilapidated Small Heath leisure centre to meet the wide needs of the community particularly in keeping the youth safe off the street including to repair Small Heath leisure centre swimming pool down for past 3 years to date apparently  in demand as a change.org petition running to have  swimming pool to function. Small heath leisure centre facilities are totally run down due to insufficient funding by Birmingham city council to make good indoor sports arena, to resurface football pitch, to improve gym space, better youth club  facilities, to improve dance studio and provide access to sport in providing  functional sports equipment for football, gym, netball, hockey, roller skating , squash and badminton , tennis etc. This community’s entitlement to have a local fully functional leisure centre is clearly being undermined and discriminated including for those with special needs to socialise .
