Birmingham City Council have cancelled the Pype Hayes Bonfire & Firework show and the Christmas parade. Every year Birmingham has had both events where the residents have supported this by bringing an economic value to the City.

The firework show is one of the highlights of the year for people in the city and Birmingham is renowned for it’s christmas parade. People travel from miles around to attend these events - they are the highlight of my family’s year.

The amount of money attendees spend in both these events would cover the costs plus more. Other events during the year have been funded by the Council across the City, so why cancel long held, century old traditions all because the Strategic Planning department cannot plan and budget correctly.

Why do the people of Birmingham have to suffer, it is our Council tax that pay for these so surely we should have a say in what the Council spend our money on!!
